About the show
This week on the podcast we have Laura Taylor, DNP, Cerified Midwife who is currently working on psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program. Her absolute passion is perinatal mental health and her goal is to combine all of her knowledge into helping this specific population of patients.
She started her nursing career in the Navy and was in the Navy for ove 12 years. In the Navy she was an L&D nurse and then went on to get her Midwifery certificate from Georgetown University. She pursued her DNP after getting out of the Navy and completed it in December 2022.
In today’s episode, she talks about her passion for perinatal mental care. She tells us about her experience with moms with PTSD and how this is often overlooked. Her goal is to marry her love of mother/baby with mental health care in order to fully care for those mothers who need it. She also wants to destigmatize asking for her help, which stops so many moms from reaching out.
If you are interested in midwifery, nursing in the Navy, and/or mental health – this episode is for you!
